I was browsing on HMP website and they have a video of live TV and the homeshopping network. A sales man slapped a sword on the table with bad results.

Take a look at the thread (lots of neat links.)

Cut&paste of course.

I have watched that knife collectors show several times and have come to the conclusion that those guys are idiots. First of all, what a crappy blade. Second of all, why was that guy hitting the flat side of the blade on the table? Not too smart. Even on the best blades, the weakest part is the flat side. They are meant to cut, not to slap. I just hope that he was not too seriously injured and has enough sense to learn his lesson.

I seem to recall something about this on the news not so long ago... The guy is sueing The company that made the sword for not telling him the proper way to use it... the man is a moron

The way I look at it, if you do not know the proper way to handle a sword then you have no business touching them. Swords are like any other weapon, you need training before you even pick them up. If you show a sword respect then they will serve you well, even the cheap ones. Show them disrespect like that idiot was, and even the most well made ones will bite you back.
