I think the clanner commander went too low, but who knows. Perhaps that's enough.

It's not even close to enough.

Actually, I kicked the Inner Sphere forces all over the map board, losing only the Vulture and getting the Elementals mauled in the process. The Dragonfly did most of the actual killing, accounting for no less than seven Inner Sphere 'mechs, including the Zeus. An ER PPC to the back is a powerful thing indeed

Against this force?
Heavy Lance
Zeus
Orion
Crusader
Panther
Medium Lance
Grasshopper
Griffin
Shadow Hawk
Wasp
Light Lance
Phoenix Hawk
Wolverine
Locust
Wasp
No chance on the Clan winning unless the IS player is played by a complete and total moron...the Clans should be able to kill some of those IS mechs, but just in sheer numbers the IS wins that battle.

I agree with chihawk. And what are the Gunner/Pilot skills of all the 'mechs involved? If everyone is a 4/5, then the Clan should NOT win that battle. And I'm assuming you weren't playing Clan honor rules, right?

Even allowing the Clans to fight like the IS, giving them, 3/4 vs the IS 4/5, and letting them move last 2 out of 3 turns turn they shouldn't stand a chance.

The breakdown was as follows:
the Puma was a clan veteran (2/3), all others were regulars (3/4); the Inner Sphere had three veteran pilots (3/4) and the rest were regulars (4/5). I don't remember which Inner Sphere 'mechs were piloted by veterans. Clan honor rules were fairly relaxed; Clan 'mechs were allowed to engage multiple Inner Sphere 'mechs, so long as only one clan 'mech fired upon each Inner Sphere 'mech. The Dragonfly did most of the killing; the Inner Sphere lights went down easy with one or two PPC shots apiece, and the mediums only took a little more. Jumping eight pretty much every round, or taking advantage of heavy cover (there was a heavy woods map in play) it could get behind backs with ease. The Inner Sphere player did make some mistakes, the worst of which was to assume the Dragonfly would be an easy kill and sending over half of his company barreling through heavy woods after it. The remaining 'mechs were easy pickings for the Vulture and the Puma.

Even under the conditions mentioned the IS should have won fairly easily.

Well, that's a pretty huge mistake. If I've got a Dragonfly jumping around 8 in heavy woods, I'm not going in after it. I'm gonna sit out in the open under some cover and wait for him to come to me. Charging into woods after a light is suicide.

Agreed Mordel. I played against a guy who ended up killing an Annihilator with an Assasin ASN-101 by jumping around in heavy woods like that. Evil level 1 players anyways
