Thats sooo funny, I actually killed an assault mech using this method  It only had a Clan ER LL as a long range weapon also, but just couldnt hit me at speed since we use Max Tech movement mods in my games. I kid you not, i literally ran circles around this guy. The few times i was in the arc of his ERLL, he missed except once, when he took off my left arm, oooooo, so what? Lost a small laser, bwahahaha. Didnt really take all that long to kill him either, only about 5 turns.
