I figure Vamp is completey hung over at this point. Spain for once looks fluid and not the choke monsters they have been in the past. Went 3-0 in group and face Ireland. Had decent control of the game and then the penalty call in the 90th minute. I bet whatever bar he was in went bezerk. The Spanish cuss words and tempers must have flared. So Vamp how tight was your ass clinched when the went to PKs to deterime the winner? And then how many people did you kiss when you won? You get Turkey or Japan next.... Both can win but not nearly as strong as the Spainards.
As for the US, we face our nemisis the Mexicans. We showed that can win against the best and then forget then we think football means you have hudels and 45 seconds to get a breather. IT will be a hard fought game. We know each other well.
I am and have been rooting for the Spainards, Turks, Russians, and Costa Rica in the Cup. Of course Team USA being my main concern. So Vamp please say a few words of support for my team and see if we can make it to the final 8.
AWAD- If Spain does meet Turkey....... I ask for a good game and put a little more support behind the Spainards

The pain, the suffering, the agony...¡the inhumanity of it! The horror! The horror!
*TWO* hours of excruciating nervous torture and mental anguish!
Well, let's not recall it, please !

we always had solid teams, but we were lacking in forwards, now in this generation we have pleny of good forwards but our defense is lacking. *Sigh* cannot have everything.

I knew Ireland wasn't going to be easy, they had vastly improved and they have a great spirit. Still, in a good day, Spain would have overrun them, but everything went awfully wrong.
The referees in this World Cup are truly horrible, it's just not a matter of their assistants, but the Swedish ref of our match must have beaten a world record, he couldn't have done it better for Ireland if he had been bribed

You bet! In the bar I was we even tossed cans at the screen ( it's a rowdy place) there was talk of murdering the referee. 20 millions of Spaniards were commenting on the lack of morality and dubious ancestry of the ref's mother. It seemed so unfair..

well, by this time I was beyond rage and I slumped into a fatalistic calm, I was half expecting to lose already...
but, hell yes we won !!!
Against all odds!! We had an horrible Swedish referee that , in post match analysis, was wrong 75% of the time, against Spain. (there are matches where a bad referee is wrong for both sides) we had one legal goal nullified, he ruled two penalties against us, one of them inexistent, and another dubious in the final minute!! resurrecting an Ireland that had done nothing to deserve that gift.
Ireland scored , drawing the match at 1-1 and we had to play the extra time and go to the penalties series, two hours of nerve wracking anxiety, sorrow and suffering!!
we played the extra time with 9 men because we had exhausted the changes, and two of our players were injured, and to top it off, we had no forward lefts, because they had been replaced from the field. It was an heroical, Numantine stand.
And then came the penalty series, it was a moving moment to see how the two teams faced them. The Irish all embraced in a group hug, and we jeered at them "soppy wussies" we thought.
And then you saw all the Spaniards, furious, cussing and swearing at the ref, the Irish, at each other, the whole world and God.
Then the camera panned away and showed our goalkeeper, standing apart, alone, all alone, with that terrible loneliness of the goalkeeper, with the weight of the hopes of millions of people resting on his shoulders. He was different. He was calm, the kid didn't even break a sweat, and even smiled thinly.
When I saw his expression I thought, "not all is lost, there's still hope".
And he is arguably the best goalkeeper of the world, this 21 year old kid stopped the first penalty during the match, and two more in the penalty series!! _________________ Memento audare semper
