What sort of Panther? I think the Legionaire would smoke most Panther variants.
They are basically the same sort of 'mech though. The Legionaire is a bit faster, but it's also a Clan 'mech. 5/8 is the speed of clan mainline heavies. Use pack tactics with these 'mechs in either case. On it's own, a Panther or Legionaire are outclassed in a number of ways. In groups though the compounding firepower of their heavy weapons means they'll do almost as much damage as a group of heavy 'mechs.
