My Windows Update icon in the system tray it frozen...it dosen't do anything when I click on it, and it's been stuck at 0% for like a week now. What can I do to get it to go back to normal? Task Manager dosen't have anything under "owner" processes that will kill it, and "system" processes are untouchable.

Try right-clicking on it, there should be an option to stop it from running...

Dunno if it's accurate, but someone in one of my classes mentioned that the British are using Windows on their warships. I can't imagine anyone that stupid, but the idea does give a new meaning to the term "blue screen of death."

As to the Windows Update, mine recently stopped having an exit option. There's simply no way to kill it. (and it looks different too)Terminating wuauclt.exe (the Update program) does the job though.
While we're on the subject, is Windows capable of immediately (in seconds) replacing a deleted file, such as wuauclt.exe? (I copied it elsewhere first; I'm not dumb enough to delete system files.) It just seems strange for it to immediately return, just like that.

Having been a devoted Mac user for years, even I finally got at PC. Now I can happily run MW4, Mechcommander, HMpro, and all the other kewl stuff I had been missing for years. Viruses be damned!

And when you catch that .004% of the viruses that can infect you you're screwed 'cause there aren't any fixes available.

That .004% comes from Microsoft Office for Mac. Even then they can't do anything to your machine, just the Office sssshhh... Stuff.....

I was reading Popular Mechanics the other day, and apparentlt the new U.S. fighters are having similar problems because precision ground attack software was added on at the last minute. Nothing like asking for air support only to get "Sorry, I gotta reboot, I'll be back around in about 5 minutes."

A guy in my IT department says there are over 2,000 virus that effect the Mac OS, but tranmission of them are difficult because most don't have any effect Windows.

Any virus that effects OS9 will probably effect OSX...that's a nasty little secret Apple is keeping from you
