The are letting FanPro continue making "Classic" Battletech, so all is not lost.

Yes. BattleTech will continue as Classic BattleTech which will be produced and handled by FanPro. There are a ton of products coming out here shortly. TR 3067 will be out in the time period as it was stated (Winter of 2001 which means December to March) contrary to the popular disinformation. And then RS 3067 as well as all that has been put up on CBT.com. Go and check out all the product that will be coming out and what has been said on the message board in the CBT special Announcements. The next 2 years product will be flowing!! Yeah
The game that WizKids has developed and is testing now is called MechWarrior: Dark Ages and is nothing like the Classic BattleTech game. It is more like BattleForce 2 if you had to compare. This is exactly how it was explained to me.
Our game is not dead. It will not die as long as we, you and me, support the game. This is what will keep it going. The pundants will say different, but since they are not involved, they are only making assumptions. The official word for what is going to happen to Classic BattleTech will be put out on CBT.com as well as FanPro's site and WizKids if need be. I hope this clears up any doubts for you.

I like the way the game is. I'll change if I have to, but if I don't then I won't.
Thanks Warner, chihawk.

There is plenty of stuff out there to keep playing "our" game forever.
Plus if Wizkids hadn't decided to allow FanPro to continue there'd be plenty of people doing it anyway--so they may as well as get some coin for doing it

As much as I love ClassicBtech I'm still interested in the Wizkids version. Maybe it's because I just love BTech! There have already been quite a few versions of the game and I like/d them all. EX: Nova Combat books, BattleForce (hard to find players), Succession Wars (same problem) Aerotech, BattleTroops, Solaris dueling rules, video games, computer games, etc. This ClickyTech just might be a lot of fun....let's wait and see.

Sorry for this small corection Warner, but like it or not Winter is Q4 in most businesss circles, and the gaming industry IS NOT different. March is in the Spring or Q1... so it is officially late.
Not to fear, it is the gaming industry after all... but to quote my retailer, since "always late never on time" is the working motto of the industry... will believe it when we see it... and if it is being written now... you missed your deadlne for March, even late march... and it has not been solicited through the usual channels. Product is usually solicited to the stores two months in advance from print out, by distributors relying on company production dates. Alliance, and others have not solicited it yet...so until we see it, will believe it.
And no that is not misinformation but how the industry works!
Sorry, for some cold reality here.

To bad you are not in my neck of the woods. Battle Force, and Succession Wars rock. And the mack daddy is the Solaris rules. Ran a tournement once using Solaris only. That was real cool. BattleTroops was OK as was Aerotech. But I am a Btech Universe fan but prefer the Classic method. I hope WizKids has a big demo at some convention so I can test drive it first.
AWAD- Hell Click a Mech may be a way for my son to start playing sooner

i love the classic rules, and will continue to play them and learn more about them as long as i can. but the click version may be nice for quick games in the dorm late at night in between study groups. if it is much like mage knight then it will be good for really quick games or introducing new players to the idea of tabletop gaming.

There are some thread with links in the Classic Battletech BBS. I don't like the basic idea of Collect-A-Mech and Clicky. Some of the mechs are cool, if Only they had not changed the scaling tho'

Yeah. I may buy a few to decorate my office with. They look are right. A little on the cheesy side. But OK to look at.
