OVERVIEW
The Exo-Suit project was started by the Davion New Avalon Institute of Science as a sort of test bed for new technologies and manufacturing techniques some time in the early 3050s.
Their first design, the Marine Combat Armor was designed to carry out or defend against boarding actions aboard space vessels.
CAPABILITIES
Due to the confined spaces it would be expected to work in, the ground speed of the Marine Combat Armor, or MCA, is no greater than that of any average infantryman. This was acceptable, as the weight saved by the lack of some sophisticated system of locomotion left plenty of room for a full suite of Jump Jets, as well as a Space Operations kit.
As the primary objective of most boarding actions is to capture the enemy ship, and successful defense of a ship requires the craft to remain intact, the MCA does not mount any kind of heavy weaponry, aside from the odd breaching explosive that might be carried in the armored 50kg Mission Equipment container.
Standard operating procedure states that the MCA squads should be deployed from some sort of transport craft, else they would have to make the dangerous trip across open space from their home dropship to the target. Once in contact with the target's hull, the MCAs secure themselves with their Magnetic Clamps, then proceed to use their Cutting Torches to breach the targets hull. Once inside, the MCA squad acts just as any other boarding party would, capturing the target or, failing that, sabotaging critical systems before extricating themselves.
DEPLOYMENT
The MCA has proven to be a very popular tool for Fedcom marines, and it is estimated that one out of every five dropships in the AFFC has at least one squad of MCAs on board. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. A marine wearing this is still toast if he comes up against Elementals. And the trend of using battle armour for marines is starting to get common.
Still it's an interesting design...
