-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overview:
Appearance wise this mech resembles a Mad Cat Mk2. Well it is a
Mad Cat Mk2, but its nowwhere near the variant sold to the
Innersphere, this deadly prototype has the potential to even out
rival most Omnimechs of its class.
Being reconstructed with Omni Tech in mind, the Omni prototype
has the flexibility found in its early founder, the Timber Wolf / Mad
Cat. The original Mad Cat Mk2 was intended to be sold to the
Innersphere however but this Omni prototype is not meant for IS use.
Its designed specifically for Clan Diamond Sharks frontline
galaxies.
Capabilities:
The Mad Cat Mk2 Omni is a prototype that is secretly developed by
request from the Khan of Clan Diamond Shark. A secretive project, the
Mad Cat MK2 Omni is a redesign from the original MK2 fitted with Omni
tech while still retaining the original Mad Cat Mk2 firepower and
manuverability.
The Mad Cat MK2 Omni is fully armored with 14.5 tons of Clan
grade Ferro Fibrous armor which provides almost as much as 18 tons of
regular armor alone. Its powerful XL engines lets the MK2 remain
fleet footed and the 4 Grandthrust Mk5 jumpjets let the mech jump up
till 120 metres which is greater than its predcessor 90m giving the
mech even more flexibility. The Mk2 Omni agility and protection
however isnt the mech's strong point.
The main thing for any Clan assault is its firepower and the Mk2
Omni Primary has plenty, given its speed and agility. 2 Ripper series
A1 ERPPCs mounted on each arm served as the Mk2 Omni's principal
armament. Not only that, the 2 ER PPCs are slaved to an extremely
advanced Clan targetting computer which offer much greater accuracy.
Although most clan warriors despised the TC, the fall of Smoke Jaguar
serves to remind them how much better gunnery can do.
Backing up the 2 ERPPCs is the quad of Series 2b ER medium
lasers also slaved to the Targetting computer. With the targetting
computer the Mk2 Omni can easily carve up most short range enemies to
shreds. The original Mk2 had a pair of LRM-10s to augument the mech's
long range fire but in the Mk2 Omni, those were remove largely
because Clan ER PPCs dont need ammunition to function. In place of
the LRM10s is a quad of Pattern JX Streak SRM4s. 2 tons of ammo
supply the missiles. As expected this array of missiles give the Mk2
Omni devastating accurate shortranged firepower.
Despite the 19 double strength heatsinks, the Mk2 Omni runs very
hot especially after jjumping and pilots are advised to practise fire
discipline. The weapons array has being grouped into range brackets
and pilots are well advised to adhere to it lest the mech reaches
terrifying heat levels and shut down.
The only other thing that really ties down the mech is its 30.7
million C-bill price tag, clearly a very expensive and hard to
produce machine.
Deployment:
Currently only experimental. Only 1 star of this mech exist,
results have being very positive so far and its soon expected that
Clan Diamond Shark will produce the mech in limited numbers due to
cost and its almost certain that only elite warriors will get their
hands on this mech.
Known Variants:
As of it is only the primary version exist.

Don't get me wrong, this is a good mech but it just costs too much...

I could buy a small dropship or a lance of assault 'mechs with the cost of one of these. _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

It's expensive, but whether it's worth the money depends on whether or not you've got the money to spend. (Count on me for definite answers.)
Still, it does look like one hell of a thing to go up against.
Now that I think about it, I think that the Nova Cats have packed most of that into the Highlander IIC.

Not to be negative, but there are lots of 'mechs that can do similar things already. The Blood Asp, for one.* The standard Mad Cat Mk2 for another. Also, I don't think the additional weight compared to the standard Timberwolf is worth it, it ain't all that much more powerful than its progenitor.
I also had an IRC discussion with Vampire yesterday, and we agreed that JJ often are a waste, especially on machines of 90-tons+ - this design looses 8 tons to them!
* The only weight classes that I can think off, off the top of my head, that do have designs which do similar things, are 65 tons. Hellbringer and Cauldron-Born are very similar in many respects. Even the Linebacker isn't all that much different, nor the Crossbow, for that matter (though the last two have a lot less pod space). And maybe 50 tons, though the Huntsman has such wacky configurations that it doesn't really clash with the Nova.

well i got this idea after observing what has being commented about the Mad Cat MkII being non- omni.
But i guess some mechs should never be omni.
