Okay I went and saw this last night. Good movie, but I felt it was missing something...to me if felt like a chapter of a Conan book redone, because that is what I kept think is hey Conan has or would have done this...but that is not a bad thing, given that Conan books are among some of the best sci-fi/fanasty out there.
The part that got me is I am not fully sure how this ties into the events in the Mummy Returns, the parts with Rock and the sack of Thebes. Maybe the next SK film will answer this.
What I didn't like was having this family sitting next to us and having the mother explain everything to her son, who would ask everytime something happen, WHY? HOW COME? etc....when an older couple asked them to be quite the kid got louder.
They rate movies for a reason right??? To me if you have to explain the whole film to the child maybe the child is not old enough to see the film???
Anyway I did like the movie and hope if they make a second one they do as well if not better. I plan on getting the novel and reading and maybe that will answers some of my questions about the tie in to the Mummy movie...
The Rock is not a bad actor, and the role fit him...

I was a good movie, But it left me flat. I kept waiting for the movie to start.
It is a good Saturday afternoon rental flick (Which is where I think this movie will hit pay dirt) but not good enough to waste a full admission on.
I can explian why the parents are bringing the kiddies. Beacuse alot of them watch the WWF. Which means they like the Rock. and must see the moive. Which had a ton of hero shots of him.
But I will say this, It is far better than any Hulk Hogan moive. And the Rock is a good acter. So it is worth seeing.

Here's how it appears that it would intertie concerning the storyline:
1. Scorpion King
2. The Mummy
3. The Mummy Returns
Rememebr, the main gimmic behind Mummy Returns was that they recovered that one artifact that the SK dropped during that one battle.

Right but THAT battle WAS NOT IN SK...so my question is did that battle (Sack of Thebes) happen at all? If so when and how did the Rock go from king to brigand?

I think they are going to make another one to tie them together.
