------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Abaddon Class assault DropShip is something of a bastard child. No one in
the AFFS or Federated-Boeing ever actually intended to design such a vessel.

In late 3067, a number of small communication disconnects within
Federated-Boeing resulted in the production of literally hundreds of unneeded
Kraken-T missile launchers. The AFFS was particularly displeased, as they were
the only ones in the Federated Suns with any reason to purchase such heavy
naval missiles, especially in such numbers. Even Regent Yvonne made her
displeasure known to Federated-Boeing. In a somewhat desperate attempt to keep
from losing out on the millions spent on producing these launchers, a group of
engineers was put together by Federated-Boeing, with orders to use the
missiles in such an incredible way that the AFFS would buy it. This effort
resulted in the Abaddon ("destruction") class DropShip.

At 100,000 tons, the Abaddon is a gigantic vessel, on par with the largest
intrasystem craft ever constructed. Scores of gauss rifles, autocannon,
particle cannon and lasers line the ship's hull, and its armor is stronger
than that of some WarShips. A wing of twenty aerospace fighters augment the
ship's firepower. All of this exists to protect the ship's primary armament:
thirty Kraken-T naval missile launchers. Combined with the ship's size and
armor, this heavy naval armament makes the Abaddon a significant threat to
even the largest of WarShips. Smaller Warships have almost no hope at all. And
DropShips should just surrender from the start.

The Abaddon's only real disadvantage is that it sacrifices everything for its
combat capabilities. The ship has almost no cargo space at all, which sharply
limits the numbers of sorties its fighters can fly. It's also dangerously
light on fuel and spare parts. Any Abaddon patroling a star system will
clearly be dependent on some other DropShip to supply these needs. While this
dependence is a disturbing flaw in the design, the fact remains that the
Abaddon is designed for combat. And in combat, few craft can match its
capabilities.

==Deployment==
Only one Abaddon has yet been produced, but more are planned.

i hope your realize that warships use capital scale armor and not standard scale like dropships? Capital scale is x10 that of standard, so a warship with 80pts actually has 800pts.

That being said, my only suggestion is this: you should split up your kraken-t launchers into single weapon bays.

Otherwise, your idea and exectution are great.

Thank you.

And yes, I'm fully aware of the difference between capital and standard scale armor. This has 343.8 points of capital armor (don't feel like rounding). Which is slightly more than the Impavido, significantly more than the Inazuma, and slightly less than the Fox. I said some WarShips, most certainly not all of them - or even many of them.

What advantage would splitting into single bays give me? I grouped them by fives simply because it's a round number, and makes for quicker reading.

more targets avalible to be hit and if 1 misses the other 4 may not. I don't know but for me, i like my cap ship missiles seperated while my naval cannons are in batteries. Maybe it is just the image of individual torpedo tubes launching 30 missiles at 30 different targets. It just gives me chills.

Again, it looks pretty good.

That is one gnarly-looking vessel. Too bad it can't enter an atmosphere.

And one thing, Vagabond: Doesn't the "T" mean that the missiles are tele-operated? Then wouldn't they travel as independent craft? You'd get the same effect grouping them together as you would putting them in their own bays. Either way, the missile strikes are resolved individually, right?

seeing as i lack AT2 i can only hypothosis that each weapons bay rolls its own to-hit instead of each weapon. kinda like a battery fire.

What's stopping it? Not that it matters. What would it do in atmosphere, anyways?

Yes, "T" means tele-operated. As I understand, T missiles have movement points like aerospace fighters do.

As for how they're resolved, I have no idea.

Read the fluff and game notes for the Behemoth class in the 3057 TRO. It's 100,000 tons, and cannot operate in an atmosphere.

that is not do to its weight, it is due to a lack of thrust to counter gravity. i believe that a ship must produce 5 or 6 thrust in order to maintain or escape a planets gravity.

anybody with AT2 able to confirm this?

Oh. I thought it was because the ship would collapse under its own weight.

No, that is why the so called "spheroid" dropships are actually mostly eggshaped, because the shape of an egg can support far more weight at the same efficiency than a true sphere can. That isn't well worded, but I can't think how to explain it atm, it's been a long time since I had it explained to me in my HS class heh.
