Back in 1991, a friend of mine had this idea:
Take the GI Joe cartoon (from the 80s) and make Battletech versions of ALL of the vehicles.
Well he did...but I lost the notes...actually my dog wizzed on them and they got tossed out. Gotta love puppies.
Any way, I was wondering if anyone here had done this or thought about it. And if you have could you share your designs and ideas on this.
Thanks,

I've been trying to do that for a while now, actually. I got the Vamp/Vamp MK II/Stinger done already, and I'm trying to find what I did with the MOBAT and the Mauler (all of them under different names so that I wouldn't get flamed.) The HISS I is going to be a pain in the @$$ unless I can balance out its supposed speed with its weapons load. I did my take on the Warthog (re-released a few months back as the Night Rhino), but I can't quite find that one, either.

But remember the GI Joe vehicles exploded after every hit....of course they crews always had time to eject/bail out/run away...

True, but only if an None important member of the team was in it...besides no one ever died in the cartoon, the comic book series killed off a couple of Joes and Cobra troops died in droves.

The few ones that I have handy, are all on paper and pencil. I'd have to save them on to disk first.
Anyhow, according to qktheatre.com , the guy Sunbow had in charge over the Joe series had a front-row seat for WWII, and therefore didn't want to see bloodshed in what was supposed to be a kids' show.
The comics are different. Around the Desert Storm Conflict, Marvel got the bright idea to make their comics more realistic. The only way to make Joe more realistic was to start killing off more characters, especially given the pressures from both Marvel and Hasbro. There were at least three massacres, but after the biggest one (go to www.yojoe.com and hit up their comics page for the exact issues) there was a huge volley of hate mail, so much that a few of the characters that were killed re-appeared alive and well in later issues- mainly Ambush (who had just been introduced) and Quick-Kick (IMHO, killing him off in the first place was the stupidest thing ever.)
What gets me is that despite the fact that Breaker was among the dead in that last major massacre, Hasbro still released a figure for him in '97. (Either way, the last times that Marvel would kill off large amounts of characters in a short period owuld be Transformers Generation 2 and the Onslaught Saga.)

One reason I liked the JOE comics was folks got hurt, and they could die...plus the punches weren't pulled as much expect on language but they did that only for the Comic code...
Thanks for the site and the info!

Uhmm why the move? (looks around and scans for the small nano machines moving threads around...and wonders if they are Repulcators...slowly removes the safties from his mech's weapons to be on the safe side...)

There's also a place at crimsonguard.tripod.com with a Joe-themed message board. I'm there under the avatar 'Skyfire.' (I've also posted two fanfics centered around an alternate timeline I'm running.)
