==Overview:==
Whereas the Free Worlds League was usually on the cutting-edge of military
hardware, it was soon discovered that the FWL was actually lacking in one
regards: a unit specifically intended to hunt down and kill battle armor,
infantry, and their carriers.
To this end, Curtiss Militech made the decision to produce a version of the
Paladin adapted to suit the FWL's needs.
The main factor influencing the decision was the fact that the Paladin already
came armed with seven machine guns; these weapons would quickly chew through
unarmored infantry and light carriers, and would even make some battle armor
units wary.
The ferro-fiborous armor was abandoned, instead replaced with an XL engine.
This gave greater weight and internal space savings, but at the cost of a more
vulnerable engine.
The large pulse laser of the original was traded out and replaced with an ER
PPC so that the Paladin can hit targets at long range; one shot can take out
most types of battle armor. A medium pulse laser and a small pulse laser were
added as back-up energy weapons in the event that the ammo bins gave out; two
additional double heat sinks were added to deal with the heat, but it is
advised that pilots still be mindful of their heat.
An ECM suite was added to help shield the mech, while an active probe was
installed to help find hidden units.
==Variants:==
Some test pilots have chosen to use a standard flamer instead of the small
pulse laser, as it allows them to set fires in order to herd infantry.
