Fellow Mordelians,

Yes I am yes behind but I am more of a strategy and tactics guys, not light them up with Lasers guy. So I have MW4, and MW4 Mercenaries and have been playing. But I suck.

Funny thing is in the pods I am actually decent, but it it the layout that makes it easy for me to torso twist, change weapons, targeting, etc. So this keyboard and joystick thing sucks for me.

I am using a Wingman Attack 2 joystick. What are you all using? My big problems are torso twisiting, reverse throttle, and changing views.

Let me know what you like and why, and if you remember th cost let me know.

Thanks,

AWAD- No forward, no meant, O damn, wasted again

Ugh the biggest poroblem is it all comes down to budget. The more you want to spent the better the joystick set up you can get.

I do prefer the CH Products line though. http://www.chproducts.com/retail_flash/index.html Here is the link

Take a look at the FighterStickUSB and the Pro Throttle USB As good as they are they both retail for 149.99 each. But they are both completely programable Pro Pedals USB can be added as well for another 149.99 but it does offer some amazing flexibility And it really has a great feel to it.

Now granted this isnt what I have (the wife forbade the purchase and wont enertain a purchase for a while). but I have used this set up and LOVE it.

I used to use the Microsoft Sidewinder Pro before my accident. It was wonderful. 10 buttons with 1 big one that i used to reverse speed, a hat for view, a throttle control, and a Z axis on the joystick for torso twists. Plus it was USB capable. Overall I was very pleased. I can't remember the cost atm thou.

You should be able to buy a good flight controller now a days that comes with a throttle control stick for a good price. These setups usually have God awful amounts of buttons and toys.

Here are some examples:
Saitek x52 FCS
Saitek x45 FCS
Thrustmaster HOTAS FCS

And they also have flight pedals:
CH Products Flight Pedals

I suggest you shop around and cruise reviews so that you can find the joystick that you want.

Wow, Stinger and Vagabond go all out.

I use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (linky). It's got USB, 12 buttons, a hat switch, twist, and a throttle. The throttle's just a little lever, but it works well enough. And that's for $30.00; not that much for a good stick that's lasted me several years now. I've used a few sticks before this one, but this and its predecessor (a Logitech Wingman) are the best I've used.

Torso twisting works well enough with the twisting stick, or at least it has for me.

Reverse throttle is simple enough. On my stick, the forward three-quarters of the throttle is forwards, and the rear quarter or so makes you go backwards. It takes a little practice to get to a dead stop with it like that, but I don't even hesitate with it by now. (It's been a few years that I've had this stick and MW4 Mercs.)

Changing views I can't help you with, as I don't really change views. I just stay with the forward view. I set my hat switch to things other than view; namely toggling zoom and target selection. I think I might have a button set for coolant flush, but I'm not sure.

Like Vagabond I too used the Sidewinder (not sure if it was the pro or not, but I think it was/is). Now that I have a new motherboard with integrated sound, I may need to get a new joystick, but I must look to see if I have the right connection still.

You definitely need a stick with at least some kind of throttling lever on the side and a Z-axis control. Everything else is just gravy after that.

--- Never played MW4 or MW4 Mercs, but strongly thinking about it now

I use keyboard and mouse as well. I find that they work just as well as a joystick.

Unless it's an actual flight game, I find I do best with a mouse and keyboard.

When I do use one, I use the Sidewinder Pro.
