Max Tech states that unit may carry only one targeting system, but the Morningstar City Command Vehicle has two, C3 Master and targeting computer. Are these systems compatible with each other or is this some kind of mistake?

C3 is not a targeting device, it aids in it but it is not a targeting device. You can place C3 and TCs together.

That statement refers to the level 3 targeting systems, such as long range, short range, variable range, anti-aircraft, multi-trac, etc. . . . As I understand it (I don't have Max Tech), having one of these exludes having any others. Some occupy a head crit and/or take up tonnage.
I've never used any of these, so someone else would do better in explaining them.

p. 59 - Max Tech - C3 counts as unit's targeting and tracking system as well and cannot be combined with other lvl 3 targeting systems (TC is lvl 3 prototype in Max Tech, but it is otherwise the same TC that entered the production later)
I don't know, if it isn't discussed in new BMR, in older version IS had only C3, so no problems with compatibility.

Well, HMPro allows you to mount the two componets at the same time. i would trust this to mean that they are thuse allowed to be combined.

I would rather stay with the written rule.

You're problem is you're reading from Max Tech. Max Tech is a Lvl 3 book. Read the BMR for the actual rules of the game as rules you see in Max Tech are purely level 3, unless they are also in the BMR.

Older BMR doesn't have IS TCs and the revised edition still avoids me.

The way the rules for C3 and Target Computers are written they are compatible...that's because neither system specifically forbids the other to be used.

Max Tech forbids using both, but if revised BMR says it's okay, than it's okay (does it say so?).

Where in MaxTech does it forbid the use of C3 and a Target Computer? My copy doesn't even hint at it...

I was looking as well. Cant find any mention of C3 in any of the targeting computer descriptions.

p. 58 and 59 Maximum Tech revised, New Targeting and Tracking Systems
C3 Computer ... such a computer counts as a unit's targeting and tracking system as well, and it cannot be combined with Level 3 systems described above. (IS TC is one of those systems)

But C3 is not...you are limited to one of the systems listed on that page. C3 is not listed on that page.

And the Targeting Computer is now Level 2, as of the revised BMR.
