Termite
clan very light mech level 3
Tonnage: 15t
Internal structure: standard 1.5t
Engine: 90 fusion 3t
MP: 6/9/0
Heat Sinks: single 10 0t
Gyroscope: 1t
Cockpit: small 2t
Armor: reactive 56 3.5t
Internal Structure Armor
H 3 6
CT 5 8/2
R/LT 4 6/2
R/LFL 3 6
R/LRL 3 6
Weapons and Ammo Location Crit. Tonnage
SRM-2 LT 1 0.5t
SRM-2 (25) LA 1 0.5t
SRM-2 H 1 0.5t
2 SRM-2 CT 2 1t
SRM-2 RT 1 0.5t
SRM-2 (50) RT 1 1t
Reactive armor 3 RT, 4LT
HS:RT,RFL,LFL,RRL,LRL
I remember you looked for some useful
ultralight (it was a while back) and I found
this in my design papers.
It's rather inexpensive SRM boat that can
survive some hits and move with good speed
(no demon). Five SRMs can annoy mechs, but
they can be really dangerous if used with
infernos LT against infantry and vehicles
(setting five hexes in fire per turn can quickly
turn battlefield to hell for conventional units)
Quite useful against IS forces, pirates and
clan HH. Freebirth's mech
Edit: I forgot about your character's freebirth status, no offense meant, I just tried to use what I call clan mentality (trueborn).

Motown won't like it. It can't cross a map (at a walk) in a single turn, then back-shoot the honest playe...erm... the target with a bunch of pulse lasers.

I know, but this looks like sending paperweight quad to do something useful and may be actually useful for him in some situations. By taking care of these targets he may have free hands to send real mechs to real targets and let the freebirths to deal with other freebirths. With forces bidded down he may gain advantage by using this and it may easily clear path from infantry and vehicles waiting in ambush, because these units are dangerous to lights and most BA troops won't be happy to see this.
And here is a speedy upgrade:
Termite 2
clan very light mech level 3
Tonnage: 15t
Internal structure: standard 1.5t
Engine: 165 XL fusion 3t
MP: 11/17/0
Heat Sinks: single 10 0t
Gyroscope: 2t
Cockpit: small 2t
Armor: reflective 56 3.5t
Internal Structure Armor
H 3 6
CT 5 8/2
R/LT 4 6/2
R/LFL 3 6
R/LRL 3 6
Weapons and Ammo Location Crit. Tonnage
SRM-2 LT 1 0.5t
SRM-2 (25) LA 1 0.5t
SRM-2 H 1 0.5t
SRM-2 CT 1 0.5t
SRM-2 RT 1 0.5t
SRM-2 (25) RT 1 0.5t
reflective armor 2RT, 3LT
HS:RT,RFL,LFL,RRL,LRL
More pulse laser proof
If there is space for it, than using ES it may be 12/18/0
Edit: *to motown* I forgot about your character's freebirth status, no offense meant, I just tried to use what I call clan mentality (trueborn).

Considering Mo's custom clan lights have absurdly large engines and crazy speed.
I doubt cost is a factor to him.

Indeed. And it must be especially fun to nail his mechs to the CT with an (C)ERPPC linked to a targeting computer. (Judging by the speed they dont carry much armor)

Now this second one is much more like what Motown comes out with. 6/9 is really too slow for something so small.
This is a very dangerous machine, especially if you give it some infernos. The lasers and pulse lasers are one thing, but Clan SRMs are just scary.

He'll probably mention it whenever he drops by, but Motown makes a big thing about max or near max armor on his 'Mechs. It makes snese, really, since you're starting with something so small.

Still, an ERPPC will shatter it pretty much. Especially with those XXL engines.

The second version has reflective armor. it gets 1/2 dmg vs all energy types but x2 dmg from falls as per MT.

Original termite was created to deal with infantry, BA and vehicles. They usually carry missiles, and it has almost full armor, no use for FF.

Reactive armor is good against MG toting infantry.

Reactive armor works only against missile weapons (including Arrow missiles and maybe bombs - rules say that it works against attacks using shaped charges p. 74 Maximum Tech)

Yep. Reactive armor only works against explosive weapons: the explosive panels detonate when explosive force is exerted upon them; the point is to either cancel out, or greatly reduce the effect of, HEAT rounds.
It offers no protection against simple kinetic projectiles (like bullets or sabot rounds).
