With the War in Iraq being labelled as 'unwinable' by many, at least in its current condition, plus all the reports of atrocities, assasinations, murders and high american and civillian casualties. I was wondering what you guys thought on the whole thing and what they should do,

Complete lockdown: Not feasible on a whole country but more troops could secure more regions and make it more difficult for cells to operate.

UN intervention: This would be similar to the situation in Bosnia, the entry of UN, as opposed to coalition forces and place the country under UN supervision. Again, something hard to pull of as the whole invasion was an iffy subject in the UN, while oit was backed by most states. Also the intervention of worldwide forces might not really help the situation any more than the US.

Keep doing the same: In my opinion not really an option because the Iraq crisis is quickly destabilising the entire Middle East. As well as the US. Because of IRaq Bushes popularity has dropped to below 40%

Fix and run: Basically what is being considered by some. The Coalition only invaded on the terms that it would firstly knock down Saddams regime and then replace it with a western one (as has been attempted) After which the terms have been met and troops withdrawn and the country is left to its own. This would be highly controversial and deeply unethical.

Complete withdrawal: Vietnam MkII simply, leave the country to its own devices despite conditions of the invasion not being met. Would cause another extreme loss of face as Vietnam on the international community. But may be the safest option with the heated political attmosphere. It would mean leaving the Iraqi's to their fate however. Much like South Vietnam.

Other: these are some of the options i have either heard being considered or have considered myself. Basically id like to hear what you guys think.
