The Smoke Jaguar deals with it through using less bulky, but heavier components. Most weapons are useful on medium to short range. I would drop the AMS for bigger LRMs and even then it's ranged firepower is limited, if compared to front line mechs. I would turn it to second line totem mech and maybe turn some lasers to rear (or drop heat sink or two to add them).
