For those of you who took notice, a few weeks ago I made a post about an upcoming fight where I and a friend were creating a company (three lances) of mechs plus vehicular detachments and we pit them against each other last week.
Firstly, I would like to say that although this game lasted far longer than any I have played (three days of on/off play) it was definitely the best by far. So many things happened and a few surprises nearly turned the tide of the game. But rather than make this a general battle report. Firstly I’d like to see which team you guys think won, and then I’ll give you the low-down!
The battle value limit for this game was 12,500 to be used on 12 mechs plus 550tons worth of vehicles (no more than 12), no clan or custom tech would be allowed besides our signature mechs (mine being the Ren-1). So both teams were fairly unique. My team used mostly level one tried and tested mechs, while my friend’s team contained a lot of tech two mechs, mostly mediums due to battle value limits of the XL engine.
Here’s the mech list.
Team 1 (me)
Penetrator PTR-4D
Thunderbolt TDR-7M
Warhammer WHM-6D
Stalker STK-3F
Renegade REN-1
Centurion CN9-D5
Whitworth WTH-1S
Spider SDR-5V
Cicada CDA 2A
Avatar AV-OA
Orion ON1-V
Wolfhound WLF-2
Team 2 (friend)
Apollo APL-1M
Bushwacker BSW-X1
Avatar AV1-O
Garm GRM-01C
Maverick MVR-AA1 (custom)
Hoplite HOP-4B
Wolftrap WFT-1
Grim Reaper GRM-R-PR29
Warhammer WHM-6K
Hollander II BZK-F5
Rifleman RFL-5M
Arctic Fox AF-1
Vehicles were mostly made so would be very length to put down here. But played a small part towards the end. But of note were my pair of Shreks, a pair of Alacorns and my opponents 100 ton tanks with two AC20’s and two large ER lasers.
In the end the fight played out very close, but I’d like to see a vote on which team you thought would win and why. Then ill reveal the result!

There is absolutely no way to tell...way too many variables to screw things up for both sides.

I like the Alacorn and the Shrek And when I have used them they have always performed well. That and 6 ppc and 6 gauss is nothing to sneeze at.

Well i have to say that both me and my friends really really hate the basic fasa maps. They don't really allow for too much interesting terrain as they are either bare or overly complex.
The three by two mapsheets we used for this game were drawn onto the back of the original ones. Its a shame there is no way i can get them onto here, because they were designed as a set, with a large lake dominating the west side and a large, gentle sloping hill on the east, giving my troops a narrow passage through towards the two central maps where the terrain opened up.
From my opponents side he started surrounded by clumps of heavy forests and a large ridge which edged its way down the entire west side of the maps, creating a thin wedge of land that skirted the far side of the lake.
Basically we designed the terrain to be neither open or closed. Giving us plenty of choices on where to take our troops. In the end we fought one major fight in the centre and two smaller skirmishes along the edges.
I guess looking at it the fight could go either way, i was hoping for a few people too go out on a limb, but never mind. I suppose a better question would be, which team would you have taken?

Team 1 because it has three of my favorite mech designs in it.
