Ground Zero Technologies started life in the Star League era. As the new comer on the block, the design firm started strong, with mechs like the GZT-WRHR-2G War Horse. the GZT-BLCK-1A Blockade, and of course the GZT-1M Mjollnir. When the Star league collapsed, Ground Zero all but closed it doors, and cut all mech production. It was then that it became Ground Zero Salvage, and was only able to produce mech parts, and lower tech weapons.It was one of the last manufacturers capable of producing Extended Range Lasers until around the end of the First Succession War.With the discovery of the Gray Death Memory Core, and a general technological renaissance, GZT has been able to expand its production, and eventually open its doors to mech production again. The firm has remained steadfastly in the hands of a single family over all the long years,being passed from father to son, brother to sister, etc., and has always refused all offers of buy out. As of this writing, it is currently being overseen by a young woman who is reportedly the wife of the actual heir, whose identity remains undisclosed. It is rumored that Ground Zero is at the heart of a fierce marital battle and ownership is being contested by several divorce lawyers. ( this is where the character Fang comes in, as he is the actual owner and heir, but is at odds with his wife,and therefore due to the rules of a separation is not able to actually see any of the profits. His comment on the issue is" She'll take me back. You'll see"). The mech design firm is currently working on several products, attempting to combat the influx of new technology currently available to its competitors, and not get left behind. It is producing mechs currently designed on older weapons and technology in a bid to generate revenue which it can then use to purchase more advanced tech and production methods. So far, there has been mixed success. Ground Zero Technology currently has production facilities on Solaris and New Charlotte, an out of the way planet at the edge of the Periphery, and sales offices in the Capitols of the Fed Suns, Lyran Alliance, and what is left of the Free Rasalhague Republic ( a bit outdated, I know, but I have not been up to date on current events. Last book I read was about the civil war between the Feds and the Lyrans)
