Overview
After Archon Katrina Stiener-Davions assumption of the Lyran Alliance, it became clear to her that the Clan threat must be stopped and quickly. However, military matters were not her fortay and she instead granted over 80 million C-Bills to one Jolanthe Kette for his talk of building up a small force of conventional aircraft similar to the MechBuster fighter of the Draconis Combine. His court accumen, not to mention his family connections, got him the grant as well as over 120 million more by private companies interested in stocks and bonds in the new company.
This would lead to the creation of the Junkers Flugzeug- und Motorenerke A.G. factory complex, or JFuMAG, pronounced phumag, factory. Established in the remains of factory comlexes from the Old Terran Hegemony, the JFuMAG Factory opened quietly and without much fanfare. Their first project, the Ju-STK-87 was well underway and security was tight against Fox Five and Clan Watch spies. However, after about 3 years of testing, the Ju-STK-87A was ready for its trial flights. Before the Archon and the top military and military contractor heads, Jolanthe was able to show off his pride and joy as he personally flew the first Junker since World War II.
Capabilities
The Stuka is set up around three principles: armor, communications, and brutal fire power. In this sense it is very similiar to the one unit of the Lyran Alliance that it was designed to work closely with, the COM-3D Commando. Like the Commando, the Stuka has respectable speed and manuverability, excellent armor protection for a light fighter, and very strong fire power compared to other fighters in its class. That they were meant to work together was inherrent from the Stukas birth.
The core of the Stuka 87 is the RM140 reheated turbine. The engine is nearly 11 meters long and weighs a whooping 10 metric tons, but is a powerful core for the Stuka and gives it a number of advantages. Although rated for only a max of 97 KPH in combat conditions, the Stuka can cruise at Mach 2. Howver, this burns fuel to quickly to be practical for anything but moving Stukas from one airfield to another, or getting to a battlefield quickly. The engine is protected by a strong amount of armor, especially a reinforced nose radome. This, combined with deep dorsail fairing causes the Stukas to be an exceptional all weather craft, capable of opperations in some of the severest forms of weather known to man. Specially designed filters also allow the Stukas to be used in atmospheres filled with contaments, either the smoke from battlefields, or hostile enviornments. The RM140 has an excellent service record and is expected to serve the Stukas well.
The core of the Junkers armament is an Waffenbehälter Model 5 Ultra Autocannon. Based loosely off of autocannon designs being produced by Conventry, the Waffenbehälter has a very unique system. Rather then a sheath with a number of barrels that rotate quickly for faster firing rates, the Waffenbehälter has instead two seperate barrels, one on each side of the fuselage, mounted near the root of the wings. The ammo, stored rear of the gun assembly, is brought forward through a single chain that diverges. As the ammo comes down it falls into either one barrel or the other depending on the computers control. This gives the barrels time to cool, and also takes away the potentially dangerous gyro affect of the multiple spinning barrels. When firing in ultra, both barrels are loaded and fired at the same time, for a truly devestating fire storm.
The second part of the Stukas combat abilities lie in its dive bombing abilities. Although any fighter can carry bombs, the Stuka is built for it. Reinforced wings and undercarriage allow for a number of bomb racks to be loaded. Up to seven HE or Cluster bombs can be carried, though this is rare. The Stuka actually comes factory equiped with three varieties of bombs: the Stuka 87A, 87B, and 87C. The Stuka 87A is the shell cracker. It is meant to be used against tight formations of troops and BattleMechs, as well as fully fortified positions like trench lines and entrenched guns. This version comes with 5 HE bombs, capable of delivering massive amounts of damage against a very narrow spot thanks to the dive bombing characteristics of this fighter. Even if the bombs scatter, the princible of a dive bomb allows for still concentrated damage, followed up by even more fighter bombers as the Stuka is cheap to produce.
The Stuka 87B is the anti-armor version of the Stuka fighter bomber. It carries 5 Cluster bombs used for dive bombing against tight formations of enemy troops. This is where the use of the Commando as a foreward artillery spotter becomes truly useful. As the Commando scouts it will see a troop movement. Rather then calling in an artillery strike which does minimal damage, it will call the wing of Stukas that have been shadowing it. Before the enemy has time to react, and without the warning of artillery placement shots, the Stukas fly in and drop their bombs in one massive strike. This shows the truly devestating effect of Stuka's as a highly mobile artillery system that can devestate enemy forces in a single wave. This also has the advantage of limiting pilot life loss as antiaircraft defenses might not be deployed in time to stop the attack. An unprepared enemy will be devestated by a Stuka 87B attack.
The Stuka 87C comes from the factory with an Arrow IV missile and a TAG pod. This is one of the weaker Stuka varients, but it can opperate without Commando ground guidance, making it a powerful scout with its own artillery support. It can be used in either of the other varients roles, though not as well, and makes a stop gap unit. It has one advantage which is range, being able to launch the Arrow over a kilometer towards an enemy. This makes it an ideal mobile artillery system, especially useful in taking out enemy artillery once it has been located.
Deployment
Currently the Stuka is being deployed all along the Clan Front. It has seen limited engagements with Clan units already where it scored very well, bringing down OmniMechs of the Assault Class with one massive dive bombing rush. However, these battles were nothing more then testing skirmishes. It is yet to be seen how the Stuka will fair in open warfare, but there are hopes for the design.
Varients
Currently there are two varients in the works. The first one is very easy to make and is officially known as the Ju-STK-87/E1 Stuka, and it drops the UAC/5 and replaces it with an LB-5X AC. This varient also comes equiped with a Beagle Active Probe and cluster ammunition and is used for dog fighting, scouting, and anti-armor work. Bomb loads are similar to the Stuka 87/FB1. This varient includes more armor on the wings and fuselage to protect the increased electronics package.
The second varient is the Ju-STK-87/S1. The enginers at JFuMAG are working on airborn torpedo and depth charger systems for use against Federated Commonwealth underwater instillations. As this unit would be highly specialized, though useful in the defense of rivers where mechs travel under the waters, it would not see much use or deployment. The Ultra AC/5 is again dropped and is being replaced with SRMs. The SRMs are considered better for rocket bombardment of navel bases then the Ultrac AC.

Oh I know. You give me immediate feed back, which is really cool, but all those other slackers I would expect would respond.
Especially Ruger considering how its a Lyran design (and a not to shabby one either!)
