==Overview:==
The Banshee had a poor reputation in all Successor State militaries though
there were still more than 1600 of them in their ranks due to the sturdiness
of the design.
By 3024 rumors had leaked into the Draconis Combine that the Lyran
Commonwealth would field a superior variant of the ancient mech soon! The DCMS
was desperately looking for a way to improve their Banshees too but hadn't the
resources too make such grave changes like replacing engines.
They rediscovered a proposal of a young designer at Diplan Mechworks made 4
years before that only altered the Banshees weapon loadout.
But as the DCMS's Banshees were spread around all the Combine with a higher
percentage in units near the periphery all mechs would have been transported
through half the Successor State to get to a mech factory! So House Kurita
took an unusual step and placed orders to a lot of local salvage and repair
facilities to upgrade the Banshees in their vicinity!
==Capabilities:==
Most pilots were puzzled about the Banshee because it combined long range
sniping weaponry with tremendous close combat ability.
To make it more suitable to fire its weapons at a shorter range without
sacrificing too much reach the BNC-3K carries two Victory 44R large lasers!
This change freed up enough tonnage to mount a dedicated short range weapon
for seeking holes in an enemy's armor: A Telos-6 SRM system! The only weapon
kept from the original -3E was the Magna Mk I small laser.
The mech even got two more heat sinks for its already powerful heat
dissipation system!
==Battle History:==
The BNC-3K fared well in combat but turned out to be inferior to the BNC-3S!
The Kuritan conversion was much cheaper though!
Another problem emerged from the great number of different contractors: While
most firms delivered top quality upgrades to have the chance of getting future
deals some used faulty salvaged weapons to save costs or mis-calibrated the
targeting system because of missing knowledge! About 10% of the converted
machines had such problems and so the BNC-3K's reputation dropped soon despite
most mechs working perfectly.
==Variants:==
Some of the salvage and repair companies did other small variations to the
actual upgrade by dropping the small laser for more armor, replacing the SRM
and one heat sink by two LRM-5's or simply using other models of large lasers
and/or SRM's

I like. This could cause a lot of hell among the lines in the 4th War, and War of 3039. I think might introduce this nasty little brawler into my campaign for that reason. Thanks a bunch, Rudel. _________________ Jarylan Blackwell

Still undergunned for it's size, but this can deal a lot of damage and you don't have to be affraid to rush to close range Angainst anything below 70t and kick some ... _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Thanks, you both! As I wanted to keep the engine (see fluff) I had no choice as to "undergun" it!
