I'd spread the machine guns around a little, but I don't think it would have any real in-game impact. All those MGs are also a little bit too much. There are several specialized SRM warheads could make crowd control much easier (not to mention what psychological impact a flamer could have). Well, just some ideas. |
I had toyed with the idea of an Inferno/Flamer variant, but just never got around to putting it in the fluff. In its intended enviroment of city fighting, I thought perhaps having the MG's in the arms and making the arms flippable might come in handy. But yes, there is always room for improvement. I still think the 5E is the more useful of the posted variants. if you have ideas or other possible variants, please let me know. I always try to keep an open mind. _________________ one by one the rabbits are stealing my sanity....

Well, there are other uses for flamer and SRMs for use in cities, that aren't directly supported íin rules. Vehicle flamers for example can be used for puting down fires and cooling 'Mechs (Can't recall the name of the coolant track in TRO 3025 or 3026) and SRMs can fire particularly anything in their warheads. I think it was the Mercenary's Star where Kuritan Wasps (Yes, I mean 'Mechs fielded by Kurtans, not WSP-1Ks, that don't have any SRMs at all) used foam warheads to put down fires, Tear gas warheads can also be found somewhere IMO, ... And last but not least, I'd like to mention that full hands may be much more useful in city fighting, because all those miscelaneous work they can do from moving heavy objects to form baricades, clearing rubble, construction work, to lifting and carrying things. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Very Cool. Seems I was a bit closed minded about the basilisk's construction. I was only thinking of a potential straight up fight, and thus made it a bit of a niche mech. Course, I also originally designed it almost 14 years ago as well. Thanks. The input really helps. _________________ one by one the rabbits are stealing my sanity....
