Overview: Unit fusion engines are designed to withstand damage from combat so they don't explode. Recently Periphery designers decided that some units wouldn't require heavy fusion engine shielding to save on parts, to keep them out of range of weapons, to make them faster and harder to be attacked, to stay out of combat and/or other reasons.

Game notes: Shieldless fusion engines come in three categories: slightly shieldless, moderately shieldless, and dangerously shieldless. If a powered up shieldless fusion engine takes a critical hit, then roll for engine explosion as per Tactical Operations rules with the following modifier:
+1 if that engine is slightly shieldless, +2 if that engine is moderately shieldless, and +3 if that engine is dangerously shieldless. Slightly shieldless fusion engines have their tonnages multiplied by 85%. Moderately shieldless fusion engines have their tonnages multiplied by 70%, and dangerously shieldless fusion engines have their tonnages multiplied by 60%. Apply the same percentage modifiers to C-bill costs and to internal structure as if said shieldless fusion engine is was a normal fusion engine. Compact, Light, XL, XXL, and large fusion engines can follow the rules above to be shieldless and so can fission engines.

So what do you all think of these rules?

Tehee... I can almost hear the pilots talking to the techs.

"Where did you say you brought that engine for my Jagermech? And how in the hell were yu able to fit all three tons of ammo in central torso? ... is that a new car of yours standing over there..." Tech is quickly leaving the scene with knowing smile on his face.
