For quite some time I've been pondering how to get the standard ACs a bit more in line with their level 2 counterparts and now it seems that I've finally found some sort of an easy solution.
Long Range Ammo (Standard AC)
Originally developed just around the time the old Star League was formed, back when the scientists had been experimenting with ballistic weapons that later led to the advent of LB and ultra autocannos. Experiments with rocket augmentation of rotation stabilized projectiles had brought some impressive results in the range area, but at the cost of the explosive payload and/or kinetic warhead weight, that caused a slight drop in caused damage. This problem had been solved later with weapon construction upgrades, after which the long range ammo soon faded away from use, but the idea wasn't forgotten entirely. The renaissance of the technology came from an unexpected source though. All scientific centers including the famous NAIS failed to notice the potential and so it came to be the ComStar who had released the technology again into use as a part of their attempts to support the FRR.
Long Range Ammo
AC/2 range 4/9/17/25 damage 1
AC/5 range 3/6/13/20 damage 4
AC/10 range 6/12/18 damage 8
AC/20 range 4/8/12 damage 18
Technically the ACs just use the range of an appropriate UAC and drop some damage. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Sounds good so far. Have you done any playtesting yet ? _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Not yet at all... I just got the idea. If you can help with this and help to determine the BV I'd be glad. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

I do not have players to test anything under "real combat situations" (as our group dissolved ).
I'll post the BV suggestions of "Heavy Metal" as soon as i managed to restart my desktop computer (which is down in the moment). I'm using my LapTop right now and don't want to put my BT programs in
Maybe i would go with a 20% reduction in damage for all guns (which would leave the AC/20 with 16 points of damage. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Well, After looking at the range increase for the AC/20, I thought that it really doesn't need any further penalization. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
