Description: In 3049, without warning, Kerensy's heirs set upon the Inner Sphere in a savage series of battles known collectively as the Invasion. On tukayyid the Com Guards brought the seemingly unstoppable Clan war machine to a halt. The Invasion ended as suddenly as it had begun, and left in its place an uneasy peace. Both sides now had an opportunity to reasses their opponent's strengths and weaknesses and respond. By 3055, the first of a new breed of BattleMechs rolled off the assembly lines of the Inner Sphere, machines designed specifically to counter the technologically advanced weapons used by the Clans. Only time will tell if these new designs will be enough to turn the tide when battle is joined once again.

The BattleTech Technical Readout: 3055 contains illustrations, descriptions, and complete statistics for new Inner Sphere BattleMechs and Clan OmniMechs, OmniFighters, and second-line BattleMechs.

Comment: A definate good buy. I have the fortune of owning one of the older copies, with the coloured versions of the Unseen Clan mechs. Consequently, this readout has my fav Mech pic.

As far as the book goes, it has some great designs, and excellent pics and fluff to go with them. The designs are mostly ballanced, and there are few 'wtf' mechs. All in all, a great book.

Comment: So distained.... Everyone's favourite object of hate, I cannot recommend this one highly enough!

As far as lvl2 is concerned, this one is definitely by far the best balance of fluff, design validity and variation. The 2nd line 'mechs are wonderful! Of course, there was a revised edition which removed almost all IIC variants, and now there is going to be an upgrade that Project Phoenixes all Clanners.....

The IS also got their best lvl2 designs out of this volume. The Gunslinger and Cerberus are still the only dual-gauss users (apart from the Tukkayid King Crab); a pleasing amount of standard engines is used; the new factories are so much more believable than in TRO:3058.

Ok, the artwork isn't of a very fine grade, but dammit! It is very original!

Ok, I'll stop now. But this one, to me, is the most underrated TRO of the lot!

Comment: A good Tech book. Now that the clans and IS have had time to study the tech, and analyze their enemy, its time for the new models of mechs to arrive. Some of the clan models are second line mechs, or omnis that have been brought out of mothballs for the invasion. The IS designs are all new, with few retreads. You also get a look at clan aerospace fighters, and some of these omnifighters are just downright mean.

Comment: This book introduces the Clan omni-fighters and new innersphere and second line Clan mechs as well as 4 Clan omnimechs first published in the Clan Wolf Source book. The designs within are useful to campaigns set after the Truce of Tukkayid. The Inner Sphere mechs are better designs than the ones in TRO 3050.The color art does have problems with perspective and proportion>the line drawing are good
