Description: |
For generations, the Republic of the Sphere has known a Golden Age of peace. Mighty BattleMechs, once kings of the battlefields, now aid the reconstruction of war-torn worlds. But when terrorists destroy the interstellar communications net, each planet is thrust into isolation. Suddenly old hatreds resurface and a people who have never known war face the prospect of learning its meaning firsthand.
Sam Donelly is one of the best ForestryMech jockeys on the planet, wielding his `Mech`s fifteen-foot chainsaw with the grace and precision of a surgeon. Caught in a skirmish with revolutionaries, he soon finds himself a rebel recruit. But Sam is no mere lumberjack, and if his true identity is discovered, the repercussions could be disastrous not only for Sam, but for the entire Republic... |

The first novel I read even related to battletech. Now I own the game.
It's a very good book, good plot, good characters and good battles. |

Overall, this novel is well written having to work wit hthe general DA storyline. I do have a couple of minor issues. The first is character development. The main character is farily well developed, however, the supporting cast range from cookie-cutter mold type characters to ones where some effort and imagination was used. The second issue is the pace of the novel. I can"t put my finger on it, but it seems like the author was given a page or word limit.
Otherwise, the battle sequences were pretty good. There was a hint of the "stuff" found in the older novels in this one. |

I liked this novel a lot. Sounded like something taken from context of actually playing a CBT game. Was well thought out, and very detailed. All in all a good read. |
