Overview:
A venerable design, both loved and hated in the DCMS. Paired with Jenners on bash and
dashes, or with Kabutos to provide some firepower, or to give a Cicada some in close power.
In short both a fast and jump capable design, never a great mech to have. But, at the same
time no one ever manages not to find a use for the Assassin.
The reworking was a further attempt to lengthen the shelf life of a design which is still a
work horse of many lance and company sized raiding parties.
Capabilities:
A single cockpit mounted LRM 5 provides both some range, and the pilot some adreniline as
most pilots find it scary to begin with. The medium laser in place of the right hand
actuator provides a good shot and dependable long term weapon. The trio of SRM 2s feeding of
a ton of ammo is both a good weapon, since it is critical finding on enemy mechs and
vehicles. Yet, the short amount of ammo means that only 3 minutes of ammo exist at fastest
rate of fire for the SRM racks.
Variation provides an extra half ton of SRM ammo and an extra half ton of armour in exchance
for trading off either the Medium Laser, or one of the SRM 2s.
Deployment:
Dotting the landscape of the DCMS forces this particular design is neither clamoured after
as a mech, nor ignored and reviled. Its both a work horse and a nobody in the rolls of
mechs. Consequently its found just about everywhere, piloted by everyone and anyone in most
situations.

A rather bad upgrade in my eyes. It has two more SRM's and an additional ton of ammo but it lost two valuable jump jets in that process. I too don't understand why the LRM was relocated into the head.

I'm not fond of the ASN-101 and this one resembles it a bit too much for my taste. The additional SRMs are a nice move, but I wonder whether it was a good idea to lose Jump Jets. Moving LRMs to the head also seems strange, with ASN-21 fluff mentioning how cramped the cockpit was and moving the ammo to CT looks more like preparing yourself for a suicide. It's a pretty good concept, but the imperfections you installed ruin it for me. (I don't think that JJs or LRM relocation were 'accidental' decisions like on many other machines. You think while designing, but I don't appreciate neither moving prominent design features just to fill a crit in the head slot nor placement of the ammo in 'safe' CT.)

I feel as though, everything I was about to say, was said already by Adder.

As the ASN's go, its middle of the road. About the only really -new- thing on this mech is the addition of the SRMs. For up close and dirty fighting, this is going to be fairly brutal.
In just about every other respect, its the same ASN with a new coat of paint. While its not my first choice for a 40 ton skirmisher, I wouldnt feel put out using them in combat, either.

An average modification; still, you could definitely do better with an upgrade you're building from the ground up.
