Overview:
Much like the old joke about the camel, the VND-1R Vindicator is the product of compromise
and not inspiration. As Capellan Confederation designers created this 'Mech to fit as many
roles as possible, it is capable of fire support, point defense, and offense, though only in
lackluster fashion.
The First Succession War had proved disastrous for the Confederation, who lost all but
one of its 'Mech-producing facilities. The remaining 'Mech plant, on the heavily
industrialized planet of Capella, was limited to the production of 'Mechs of less than 60
tons. Also, because the Confederation had few materials to build 'Mechs, its engineers
decided to build a 'Mech that was capable of several roles, yet could be built with meager
resources.
The Vindicator was designed and built in 2826, during the lull between the First and
Second Succession Wars. The first Vindicators had machine guns mounted on their left arms
instead of the small laser seen on current models.
Capabilities:
Vindicators have changed little during their 200 years of service. Attempts were made to
make the 'Mech more mobile by sacrificing some armor for additional jump jets. However, the
trade-off was disappointing as the lost armor made the 'Mech too vulnerable and the added
heat decreased its fighting ability.
Some of these altered Vindicators, dubbed "Avenging Angels", are still used in
Confederation reserve and training units. It is expected that they will be sent to the scrap
heap or sold to 'Mech families in the next ten years.

Definitely inferior to the 1R Vindicator. The armor is simply too light for it's speed and weight. Of course that the weapons may easily beat a Shadow Hawk (on paper), but the mech won't last long enough to use them effectively. I think that there is no reason to keep 6 tons of equipment filled with heat sinks needed to fire all weapons (including the next-to-useless small laser), so there is an easy solution. Swap two or three heat sinks (and the SL of course) for armor. This will give you some badly needed protection, but you'll have to watch your heat a little more. As it stands it must be kept behind your units that are strong enough to keep the enemy occupied.

Faster and more jump as the original but too low armor to be very useful.
Snipe with your PPC and LRM and evade any enemy trying to close.
Maybe rip out the lasers to get some more armor: If your enemy is in range of them you´ll die a fast death anyway!

This is crap. It has so little armor that most lights will chew it up. It is a coffin, and it is only good as cannon fodder. That must be the reasin the Capellans use it.

Designed for a shoot out with its range weapons. But lacks the ability to take a hit.
Kinda makes it superfluous. Even light mechs would move in to engage this design as the armour is roughly equal and most light mechs move fast enough to pummel it.

The lack of armor here makes this thing a walking metal coffin. Once it attracts attention to itself by firing off it's PPC and LRM rack, it wont survive long. This is a definite design for shoot, run, and run some more.
