Overview:
Thanks to the cheap yet effectiveness of the Ant design, the 'Leader' had enjoyed large
amounts of success. During the many raids against the Lyran people, the 'Leader' realized
that the Ant, when alone, proved ineffective. Similar situations also proved the limit
usefulness of the Ant. The 'Leader' went to work on a new design to help fill in the holes
within his ranks. Not yet capable of producing medium weight mechs, a fast light mech was
conceived. After sufficient resources were obtained, the new mech was put into production.
Capabilities:
The mech received the name 'Roach' because of what it represented. With a top speed of
119kph and 210m jump, the mech can easily get into unwanted areas. This speed and mobility,
mixed with 6.5 tons of armor, makes the mech hard to squish. All this coupled with it's twin
Medium Lasers make the mech as annoying as a 'Roach.' The mech has performed well and can
hold it's own against it's closest rival, the 'Spider.'
Deployment:
As the mech is larger and more costly to build, production of this design is understandably
slow. As it is, one roach is produced for every three Ants.

Armored Spider. Two lasers are just enough for machine with this mobility and armor. They will let it hit weak spots and return home.

As a bandit mech, I'd be very happy. As a guy whose mech forces frequently dueled with pirates... I'd be almost very unhappy as all these kind of mechs (Fast Jumpers) are a serious pain to hit and do damage more out of proportion than anything else in a raid.
Its not the best mech ever for the job but its got the armour to do it right, especially in the less deadly 3025 time period.
Drops off real fast as the time line advances. Good work Khayman.

I had made the Spider conection before reading it in the fluff. It's a poor cousin to the spider. It goes slower but is more armored than the Spider. That being said, I think it has a higher survivability than the Spider. Still fast, it's got good armor coverage, and the weapons are light for it's size though with the speed to offset it some it's not so much of an issue.

I like..
Fast, heavily armoured and enough weapons to compete with a spider.. most importantly, this is a cheap level one mech.. brilliant.
I'll take this over the spider simply because it can take hits.
I don't know who the Leader is, but he has a good light mech on his hands.

The speed is fair and the jump is useful the armour load is good but the weapon load is somewhat light .it would have some difficulty with some of the other lights of that era.Notably the Jenner especialy the JR-7F.good but not great.
