Where to begin? GhostBear, it is an interesting idead for a design, but--as SD said--you packed way too many heat sinks on the machine. You have seven tons of dead weight, right there. And of all canon 'Mechs, this thing is slower than every single one except the Annihilator (which sucks, in my own humble opinion). Increase the speed to 3/5, you might get that just from the heat sinks and down-grading the LRM to 15 pack. |

It runs way too cool. the weapons are unable to keep all those heat sinks busy, so they are just dead weight. The Protector can really damage even assaults... in case that they are stupid enough to come within range. AC/10s are fine with me and I must commend the fact that they are well supplied with ammo, but 5/10/15 range profile doesn't go well with 2/3 range profile, so don't even think about fielding this somewhere in the open. Armour is superb, so no problems with it, but as I said the weapons could use some tinkering.
Try using brackets to achieve better results, for example splitting the LRM to two 15s (reducing the amount of heat sinks) would give you more missiles in the air and it would keep the ammo dependant style of the original with the bonus of increased amount of LRMs. Other possibilities would include adding a PPC or a Large laser to supplement the ranged firepower, which is insufficient for this movement profile. Oh and you can always try to install a 300 engine ;)
Play with your designs a little more, I think you can do better than this. |
