Overview:
The PTR-1A Predator was designed as a hard-hitting, fast-moving medium 'Mech during the
years immediately prior to the Uprising. Designed by Taurus Territorial Industries of
Taurus, this 'Mech formed the core of the Taurian Defense Force in the years after the
Amaris Coup. Though well over 250 years old, it is still a vital part of TDF medium and
heavy lances.
Capabilities:
The Predator is reaching speeds of 84.1 kilometers per hour, though the design lacks jump
jets. Ten and a half tons of ArmorWorks Carbide Standard Composite provide a extremely
durable outer face and permit the 'Mech to take damage that would destroy many Star League
heavy models. The primary armament is an arm-mounted Martin-Gordan White Lightning PPC, in
a mount very simliar to that of the Hellfire, allowing the MechWarrior to rotate the arm to
target units behind the 'Mech. Two Martin-Gordan Rapier medium lasers are set deep in the
protective armor of the center torso and provide secondary direct-fire weapons. In the left
torso is a heavy short-range missile launcher, the Aurora Missiliers Hemlock SRM-6, along
with ton of ammunition. Finally, a HWC Reaper machine gun is carried in the left arm, along
with a half-ton of ammunition. Twelve heat sinks provide adequete heat dissipation capacity
for the unit, though the MechWarrior must be careful about the use of all his weapons
systems simultaneously.
Deployment:
The Predator is considered one of the main battle 'Mechs of the TDF. Every unit the size of
a company or larger contains at least one--occassionaly more of this fine machine. TTI
still produces a least a dozen units annually at their Taurus facility, with still more
produced at the Sterope, Samantha, and Jamestown facilities.
Variants:
The -1B model replaces the HWC Reaper machine gun and ammo with a Jamestown IncendiariesI
Flamelord flamer. The -2A model replaces the AM Hemlock SRM-6 and ammo, both the MG Rapier
medium lasers, and the HWC Reaper and ammo with a single Aurora Missiliers Monkshood LRM-10
and two tons of ammunition. Only forty -2A units per produced, as the decrease in firepower
was felt to be prohibitive, despite the increased range.
The -3A model replaces the AM Hemlock SRM-6 and ammo and the HWC Reaper machine-gun and ammo
with an Aurora Missiliers Privet LRM-5 and one ton of ammunition and an Aurora an Aurora
Missilers Oleander SRM-2 and one ton of ammunition. This unit has proved to be more popular
than the failure that was the -2A, and remains in limited production to this day.
Notable MechWarriors:
Major Jean-Marie Bertand served with the reformed Taurian Guards following the Amaris Coup
from 2800 to 2816. Deployed to Badlands in 2812 with her PDR-1A Predator (the 'Harlequin'),
she encountered a renegade force of Mercs fleeing the wars into the TC. She and her company
engaged the rogue warriors for nearly four hours in a running gun battle, that resulted in
the destruction of five enemy 'Mechs and the capture of seven, as well as the capture of a
Union class DropShip. Promoted to Major, Jean-Marie was given command of the 1st Battalion,
Taurian Guards on Taurus itself, a post she retained until an unfortunate accident took her
life, four short years later.

Ahh, yes... that's what a Wolverine would look like after waking from a long night spent drinking... or after being awoken. It's a fierce beast with powerful weapons for short and medium range fighting. Well armoured, but it's speed is only average. Without augmentation by JJs it can't be expected to perform the same duties as for example Wolverine or Shadow Hawk. The Predator is much better suited for line fighting.
Keep it tearing opponents at close range and it will do it's job well. Just like with the other lvl 1s, watch your heat carefully.

A very good design! This instantly outclasses a whole bunch of other 3025 mediums. Wonderful text - I loved your variants and your evaluation of them (the -2 really is a waste compared to the base model). Your designs combine great stats with great in-universe realism.
