Overview:
The Asgardian is an older design that saw brief production by Ground Zero during the early
part of 3010 and until around 3030. An all around work horse mech, it did not see much use
and was eventually dropped for more mobile machines. There are plans by Ground Zero to
rework the design with rediscovered technologies and release an updated Asgardian.
Capabilities:
The Asgardian is a tough machine, carring ample armor for its size. the Partical Cannon and
large laser give it a decent long range punch for the era with the SRM6 and flamer providing
short range backup. Critics tend to point out that the Agardian is rather slow moving when
compared to other mechs of the same weight class, and the 16 heatsinks do not seem to be
enough for the mech to make better use of its weaponry. Still, the Asgardian saw its fair
share of buyers and battles with most surviving for long years after the production line was
destroyed.
Deployment:
At this time, there are around ten of the Asgardian mech still known to exist. Most of them
are in Ground Zero's possession, with several belonging to certain second line units
deployed by the Federated Commonwealth.
Variants:
There were no variants produced for the original design, but GZT is looking to resurrect the
Asgardian and make it a more potent weapons platform.
Notable MechWarriors:
No notables are on record at this time.

Two heavy weapons make that medium Mech a force to be reckoned with. A crit-seeker and a "multi-tool" are a nice backup. Due to its firepower and armor it can even engage some heavy Mechs with a good chance of success. Heat-management is an absolut must as with most Succession War aera Mechs but 16 heat sinks are a very good basis for that. Just don't be to over-confident ;)

Comment:
The 'Mech with it's insufficient heat dissipation and combination of speed and armament has some 'old' feeling about it, although for me it would fit more a refitted TH machine.
Heavy armour allows the Asgardian to withstand some punishment which it is bound to catch, because it's heavy armament and slightly below-average speed are going to draw attention. 16 heat sinks won't help you to build up movement modifiers anyway, although staying on the move is not a problem if you use the big guns judiciously.
A solid design, but it will be outshone by heavies wherever it goes. Still a good 'Mech for smaller company to manufacture (from marketing point of view), because everyone can't afford a Warhammer. For that you get another half-point.

Comment:
The Asgardian is a solid 3rd Succession War Mech of the line. It is well armored, decently heat-sinked for the era and its energy based main weapons give it staying power in Battle. Although not the fastest or agile design, it fits in with workhorse 'Mechs of the era such as the Centurion or the Enforcer.
My only quibble would be with the flamer and the layout. The flamer does add character to the design - IIRC the only contemporary Battlemech over 50 tons that mounts a flamer in its main configuration would be the Merlin, The BattleMech, however, has a serious blind spot on its left hand side. I'd suggest either moving the Large Laser to the LA or replacing the flamer with a rear facing medium laser, like the aforementioned Centurion.
