Overview:
The original Mongol-7R's weakness was its extremely rare and expensive components. Gradually
7R's would lose their XL engine, gauss rifle and M.A.S.C, and find themselves without
replacement - either due to financial and availability restrictions (often both). So the 9N
would come to be, the budget variant. Initially a common field refit, the 9N would find
itself in official production model, it has a standard 330 engine, no M.A.S.C, and a self
sufficient PPC in place of the gauss rifle. However, with the juggling of components, the 9N
would find room for an extra ton of armour. Furthermore, the right torso was bulked with
more armour than the left, to better protect the PPC.

Capabilities:
While not as advanced as the 7R model, the Mongol-9N is still a fast and agile BattleMech
that serves a similar role as a hit-and-run harasser. However, with less firepower than its
predecessor, the 9N is typically paired with another 9N in a heavier lance. Together, they
skirt the edges of the battlefield, picking off vulnerable targets or providing suppressing
fire with dual PPCs. Alternatively, the 9N can be used to draw enemy fire away from the main
force, allowing the heavier units to move into position for a devastating attack.
