Overview:
The Xanthos Omni-QuadVee was engineered to be a “main battle tank” of the QuadVee
designs, fast enough and well armored enough to stand with the main battle line, but not
fast enough to be a skirmisher or striker, nor slow enough or strong enough to be counted a
juggernaut.
Capabilities:
Powered by a type 300 extralight fusion core, the Xanthos can reach over 60 kph, both on its
feet and its tracks, and is plated with 13 tons of standard armor plate, allowing it to
absorb significant damage. These features, along with its endo-steel internals, grant it
some 24 tons of pod space.
In its Prime configuration, the Xanthos possesses a centrally mounted extended-range PPC,
supported by a pair of long-range missile racks capable of launching 15 missiles apiece on
each flight and each supplied with two tons of munitions. At closer ranges, a pair of
short-range missile launchers, each firing 6 missiles at a time when lock-on is achieved.
Though the racks share but a single ton of ammunition, the fact these are Streak racks means
no SRM is ever wasted on this design.
Alternate Configuration A of the Xanthos is a long-range combatant and anti-air platform,
combining a pair of extended-range large lasers with two type 5 LB/X dual-purpose
autocannons supplied with two tons of munitions shared between the cannons.
Alternate Configuration B is a close-in combatant, combining one each of a large, medium and
small pulse laser with a large rapid-fire Type 20 Ultra autocannon fed by three tons of
munitions. Used mostly in the confines of city fighting or otherwise built-up terrain, this
model can be deadly in the right circumstances, but almost helpless in other battlefields.
Alternate Configuration C is a multi-role combatant, fitted with a singular large pulse
laser with a coaxial medium pulse laser. Supporting these weapons are a pair of plasma
cannons fed by three tons of ammunition, and two six packs of short-range missiles supplied
by two tons of missile reloads. Finally, the last two tons of pod space have been consumed
by the inclusion of two anti-personnel Gauss Rifles sharing a ton of ammunition. The heat
generated by these various weapons make this design somewhat tricky to use, but invaluable
when facing armor and infantry at the same time on the battlefield.
Alternate Configuration D mounts a type 20 Hyper-Assault Gauss Rifle fed by three tons of
munitions, supported by an extended-range PPC, an improved heavy medium laser and two medium
pulse lasers.
Deployment:
The Xanthose is slowly rolling out to several units, but so far demand is outstripping
supply. Technicians are even now working to ramp up production.
