Overview:
In 2601 the DCMS called for a modern high capacity armored infantry carrier with low
maintenance requirements and low need of supplies.
It should have considerable speed and so a wheeled vehicle was chosen.
Buda Imperial Vehicles answered with the Boxcar APC.
Capabilities:
The Boxcar has a very square appearence, hence the name, and can haul up to ten tons may it
be infantry or cargo.
Its rugged Magna 105 fusion engine needs almost no maintanence and its weapons are all
energy based. All that is wrapped in three and a half tons of armor.
While the turret mounted medium and small laser pack quite a punch the anti-infantry
capacity is almost not existing.
Deployment:
The Boxcar was deployed widely across the Draconis Combine. During the Succession Wars some
ended up in neighboring realms. Later in these wars most were salvaged for their valuable
fusion engines.
Variants:
Not long after commissioning the first variant appeared, swapping the small laser for two
machineguns. This reduced the cargo capacity to nine tons. During the 2700s some replaced
their small laser with a small pulse model, reducing their cargo to nine and a half tons.
Late Succession War variants used internal combustion engines and two machineguns as their
only weaponry. These could haul up to eight and a half tons.
