A good heavy line mech.
The weaponloadout shows a dangerous damagecurve that begins far away and climbs higher as the enemy closes. At medium ranges you have a hard punch without any heat problems and at shorter ranges the pulse lasers are very useful to hit light mechs speeding along!
Though the armor isn“t as much as expected on such a mech the standard engine will let you survive even catastrophic side torso damage.
The small laser is a bit odd here as 0.5 tons of armor would have been a better choice. |

A solid heavy frontliner with no ammo dependency and no glass jaw syndrome, the 1GLS is great for showcasing newer tech on mechs and can be use for teaching newer players.
The lack of full jump can be annoying so downgrade the pulses for 3 meds and use the xtra ton for JJs. And Scrap the small for another half more ton armor.
Overall a fair grunt design. |

I prefer the Gauss rifle variant personally. The head clips you'll get are worth the marginal reduction in damage potential. Still, that said, this is an impressive 'mech. The only problem is the less than full jump, but that's what techs are for. |

This is a favorite of mine in mercenary use. It makes for a good command mech that can help out in battle if necessary. No ammo to cook off and the heat sinks to keep firing at medium range makes it perfect for the cautious fighter. The MPLs may seem useless, but are quite good for the times someone rushes you with fast light/medium mechs.
I used it in a tournament once, but got destroyed by a Wraith. I'm sure I ripped the price of my GAL out of his hide, however :-) |

A good all-around design. Great for training players in the new tech.
Nice and quick, jump capable, the maneuverability on this thing is very good, and could get this mech out of quite a few sticky spots.
The armor is fairly tough, despite being standard only. The armor covering the rear torsos seems to be a little thin for my tastes.
Weaponswise, this thing has a nice damage arc. Sniping at long range, and inflicting more damage as the mech approaches.
Im not sure that the DHS can handle the entire output of all the weapons, though. One or two alpha strikes will crippile this guy. Save em for when you cant miss, or when you have the rear arc of your opponent directly in front of you, or both. |
