An almost perfect heavy mech! The longrange and shortrange sets of weapons are a good, ammo independent choice and not meant to be fired at once. The armor, so not maxed, is heavy and the standard engine let it survive even heaviest damage. Though not very fast it can keep up with most heavies and assaults, and its jumpjets will give it an advantage in many situations. There are only 2 minor flaws (in my eyes): Even if each weapon set can be fired without doing heat moving would do that. So you´ll have to drop a laser after some time to cool down. That AMS ammo in the center torso is another thing im worried about! I lost a Penetrator due to a single crit after a rolled 2. I would trade that AMS for another DHS and a half ton of armor. It even has enough space to put FF in. |

This mech is terrible for many reasons: 1. Inner Sphere ER Large Lasers are horrible weapons they generate too much heat for mediocre damage and lack the range to be a sniping weapon. 2. Inner Sphere Medium Pulse Lasers are also terrible they shoot 6 hexes! 3. This mech is too slow to get close enough to use the pulse lasers, which leaves you plinking away with the ER Larges

This is a really good design, and about as good as you can get with Inner Sphere mechs. Where do I start? ER large lasers for long range, incredibly effective medium pulse lasers for close range, enough heat sinks to fire all your weapons of a similar range together, good manuverability (for a heavy mech) and no XL engine! I've played with this mech a few times and it's one of the few Inner Sphere mechs that actually fares rather well against clan mechs. I really don't care for the Inner Sphere version of AMS though and would probably scrape it for more armor or heat sinks.
My only complaint is why we had to wait until TRO 3055/58 to get any good Inner Sphere level 2 mechs like this and the Devestator. |

This is just what a mercenary would want to ride in.
1) Its tough. Sure the armor isn't maxed but it does not mount a vulnerable XL engine, which equates less time spent on repairs.
2) The lack of above mentioned engine also means the mech is not that expensive to buy in the first place.
3) Aside from that AMS which takes up some ammo, the other weapons don't require ammo which is a major boon.
4) This thing jumps and packs enough energy weapons to ruin anyones day.
I want this. |

My all time favorite Battlemech and the preferred Mech of my favorite BattleTech character. The Dual ER Large Lasers let it inflict decent damage at range and the 6 Medium Pulse lasers let it shred anything that gets in close. The jump jets allow it to maneuver well and 75 tons of Death From Above is always fun as long as you're not the one hit with it. The AMS's improve it's defense and the weapons array and jump jets make it good in any terrain. Just remember not to Alpha Strike unless you have no choice or there aren't any other enemies who can exploit your heat build up. |
