An easy to do and straight forward upgrade that looks like a field refit.
Added range, full armor, superb heat dissipation and a standard engine make this a formidable fighter.

A cheap and simple refit makes sense, the upgrades offer only a slight improvement, but its better than nothing.
Only the med pulses annoy me, this mech isn't quite fast enough to chase enemies with pulses, regular mediums would have being better.
FF armor could also be a worthwhile investment. |

Seems like they wanted to refit this design, but not make it too expensive.
The speed is very nice for its weight, and the heat sinks can handle a few alpha strikes before forcing the pilot to choose his weapons carefully.
The armor is what I would call moderate to heavy for its weight, and will let the mech take quite a beting before being punctured.
The weapons have me puzzled, though. Half of them have been updated with newer tech, but the others have remained largely untouched. It seems more like a compromise than any kind of improvement. The standard large laser and AC 5 gives the mech some ability to deal damage, while cooling down at the same time.
Other than the odd weapons load, this mech is a good brawler, one that can wade into firefights with a good chance of walking out in one (relative) piece.
Use this to either anchor a defensive force, or put together a lance of them to crack a well-defended area. |

This is a solid refit; it retains the original design's long range punch and improves on the heat curve considerably. I wouldn't consider it a front line design in the late fifties, but it would do nicely in a militia unit, Chaos March, or Periphery unit. |

3058... and tech has walked by this mech. Its got nothing really as a refit. Just 3 tons more armour and DHS. This mech could be a refit rather than a new design really.
Cheap and probably decent as long as no clan opponents are going to be fought.
Still you'll have to manage your heat fairly well some days. Would have been better off with ER Large Laser and standard PPC, rather than the way it is here. Not sure if the mediums pulses are a good idea or a bad, but they're there for you to use. |
