This Longbow slowes down to push its armor and heatsinks.
Not a bad design as heavy LRM support doesn´t need much speed.
It keeps the heavy missile firepower and improves the defense weaponry somewhat but i think it is oversinked:
To keep the launchers spitting while moving 18 heatsinks are enough!
I would take some more ammo and maybe armor instead.

I hate this one! It has no improvement over the OW in terms of offensive capability (forget obout the 2 ML, they ain't gonna save it up close). It has way too many heat sinks for a fire-support machine and sacrifices a movement point for it. The only real improvement is the armour, which is thicker by more than 1.5 times compared to its progenitor. That is why it still scores so relatively high!
Now, my real beef: This is the first Project Phoenix 'mech. Never mind that it was redrawn for a 2nd time in Project Phoenix!! So, sorry, mud, this is NOT the one you saw, towering over the Crusader. This is the cruddy drawing out of TRO:3058. One of the first truly awful miniatures..... How can they make such a beautiful-looking base design so ugly?
Which brings me to the point, where I also have to rebut the other reviewer, StarAdder: sorry, no FF, this is a design that apparently has been in production since 2610, without a change. So: a true 3025er. Besides, it has the armour protection of a Battlemaster, so what more do you want? On a fire-support 'mech?
But, to finish, that very armour is the ONLY reason that this one ain't getting a big, fat "0"!!!

A hard rain is gonna fall from this monster.
50 LRMs have a nasty tendancy to cripple or kill mechs before they can do much of anything.
The down side is that this thing has big blind spot where the LRMs are pretty much useless. And the two medium lasers arent enough to make up the difference, sorry.
THe armor seems to be a bit thin on this one, some how. Maybe swapping to FF or something would improve this things survivability.
The dependance on the LRMs make this an Ammo Addict, so dont go wandering too far from your J-27s, or youre going to be in a world of trouble.

The archer on steroids; I just love the way this design looks (the old unseen version). I remember a picture of this design from the old Battleforce book, standing over a disabled Crusader with it's weapon pods open and twenty missiles primed on each arm; a pretty accurate description of what it can do on the field of battle. The armor is supurb as is the heat sink capacity, but the speed and ammo situation is subpar. I'd probably ditch a pair of heat sinks for a couple more tons of LRM-20 ammo to give it more endurance, as the two Medium Lasers provide only the most desultory close-range firepower.
