As this monster appeared on the battlefield it struck fear into the hearts of tank crews and infantrists!
Even if some of this relicts survived till this days they are a staggering 600 (!!) years old!
In its timeframe it was simply THAT superior force on the field!
Even in a 3025 setting underestimating it can be a severe mistake!

The Mackie is a suprisingly effective mech, one of the cheapest 100 tonners available (if you go by game values and not fluff:rarity)

Its got heavy armour and no-noe should underestimate an AC10 and PPC in the 3025 era. Its not an Atlas beater, but it can hold its own and in a campaign you can bend the rules slightly when modifying it (If you play those rules)

Good heat ability too.
Long live the mackie! Gotta give it credit for being the first mech ever!

This rating applies to the time the MSK was introduced. It was the single most fearsome unit available! It was replaced by better mechs long ago, but when it appeared it was the best. Also the only battlemech...

The Mackie is actually not that bad, as long as you stay in a 3025 setting.

Sure, the components have been intentionally worsened, but they are well chosen. The result is a slightly slower Cataphract with better armor, more ammo and a better kick.

Also, it looks quite impressive (although the placement of the medium lasers is always good for a joke or two), and I suspect machines like the Marauder have earned a lot of their reputations based on their looks as well.
